Bankruptcy Laws - What to Expect From Filing Under the Bankruptcy Laws

Are you considering filing for bankruptcy? I have been there and I almost file myself, but there are a few major reasons why I never filed under the bankruptcy laws. You do have better options, but there are some that will need bankruptcy. Here are your options.

First, if you have debts that total twice what your annual income is, then you may really need to file for bankruptcy. If this describes you, then you may want to consult a bankruptcy lawyer that will give you a free consultation and see what your options are.

Now if your debts are not twice what your annual income is, then you probably do not have to file for bankruptcy. There are some other options that can and will work so much better for you than bankruptcy would.

The best option for you is credit counseling. They will take a look at your debts and your income. Then, they will set up a budget for you so that you can pay off your debts. They will also call and negotiate with your creditors so that you can pay them off for a smaller portion than what you owe them.

They will also require you to go through credit counseling so that you can learn how to stay out of debt. This is a great benefit because you will learn how to keep from making the same mistakes twice. Plus this will cost you about the same amount as it would to file for bankruptcy and hire a lawyer.

Another option is to pay off all your debts yourself. This is easiest if you go to the library and check out some books that have to do with budgeting. These will help you set up a budget in order to pay off your debts. You should pay off the smallest ones first and work your way up the the larger ones.
